Guest Comments

Here are some appreciative comments made by guests since we opened in August 2006.

Dear Renee:

We wanted to do a review of The Lodge so please feel free to add this email to the other guest comments. Chris & I wanted to tell you what a very pleasant stay we had in The Lodge. It was very quiet & private so we were able to really relax there. Wonderful living room for relaxing in front of the fire with a book or catching a show on the television. Lovely courtyard-style, private patio with BBQ and at the front a porch with chairs overlooking a lovely garden. What more could one seek? Comfortable bed with proper pillows, not those awful bolsters found in some spots. Also, North Americans will be glad to know there are actual sheets on the beds not just a duvet. Everything about The Lodge is first-class. Starting with the welcome chocolates, wine & groceries awaiting us upon arrival.

Coming from Canada, we appreciated having what we consider a 'normal' sized refrigerator/freezer so we didn't have to be shopping every day. Having travelled all over Great Britain & Europe over the past 30+ yrs, we know what a rarity that is! In fact, all the appliances were topknotch. Heated towel racks in the bathrooms were icing on the cake!

We found the location to be central for exploring from Carlisle in the west, up into Scotland and from Durham up the coast to Lindisfarne. There are so many things to see & do that it was hard to choose. This is also a perfect spot for those wanting to explore Hadrian's Wall.

Although we missed seeing John, we can say that Renee is the true gem of the place. A wonderful, warm, funny hostess. She made us feel welcome from the first moment we met her. So thank you, Renee, for everything. We hope to get back there one day!

Regards,

I’ve been wanting to send you a note all week to let you know how much my wife and I enjoyed our stay at the “The Barn” It really is a wonderful place both to have a relaxing break, with all mod cons, but also for location to visit beautiful Northumberland and the North Pennines. I’m sorry we didn’t get to meet you, but will you please thank your wife for the welcome pack and her welcome visit to us with flowers. We will certainly recommend you to our friends and hope to come and stay again ourselves in the future.

We are writing to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Orchard Barn last week. The property was everything we hoped for and had a most enjoyable and relaxing stay, we only wished we were there for longer!

As you don’t have a comments book we thought an email would be in order to say how much we enjoyed staying in your delightful orchard barn. We had a wonderful time not least because of the accommodation that was second to none and extremely comfortable.

Had a lovely stay at the orchard barn. It’s a beautiful property with lovely furnishings and finishing touches. The hamper was much appreciated. Particularly enjoyed the wine and chocolates.
